,

Landscaoe
Ms. DeVine explained that she received bids from Goetz Landscape & Irrigation, Inc.
and Kline Design & Landscape Inc. Ms. DeVine received quotes for landscaping around
the signs of Royal Meadows Park, Eagle Park and Acorn Creek Park (includes garden
wall block). The bid from Goetz Landscape came in at $1,937.90 while the bid from
Kline Design came in at $2399.70 - both bids were for all three (3) parks.

Motion by Ms. DeVine, seconded by Mr. Porter to hire Goetz Landscape &
Irrigation, Inc. to install the landscaping around the signs at Royal Meadows Park,
Eagle Park and Acorn Creek Park. All in favor. Motion carried uuanimously.

Ms. DeVine requested Ms. Lien send a letter of denial to Kline Design & Landscape.

Laurie LaMotte Park Dedication
Mr. Navin requested Ms. Lien compile a list, going back 10 years, of past Park and
Recreation Members to be invited to the dedication of Laurie LaMotte Park. Mr. Navin
would like to see some participation from the Centennial Little League and the soccer
club, adding that maybe we could get the Minnesota Twins or the Saints to make an
appearance. Mr. Navin also requested Ms. Lien contact Patricia Scott to submit some
type of advertising of the event in the local newsletter.

The Committee elected to meet at Laurie LaMotte Park at 6:00 p.rn. before the next Park
and Recreation Committee meeting scheduled for April S&, to ''mark out" the trail
connection.

Intern Uodate
Mr. Porter contacted the Posting Board at the University of Minnesota. Apparently there
are four (4) to five (S) different majors to choose from. He felt the "Park and Recreation
Degree" would be the best area with the biggest opportunities to look into. The intern
would have to be a paid position, and will NOT receive credits. Mr. Porter suggested
hiring a part-time person ranging from $7.00 to $ 11.00 per hour. He felt the person hired
could work Saturdays for the entire summer, help coordinate events with the YMCA, and
attend the Park and Recreation meetings. Mr. Navin felt it would be necessary for that
person to also work with the Public Works Department during the week.

The general consensus of the Committee was that there may not be enough work for this
type of position at this time.

YMCA Uodate
Mr. Darrell Silverness from the YMCA submitted a letter to Mr. March requesting the
following:
I. The YMCA is interested in the City of Centerville participating in the
capitol fund raising efforts to build a new YMCA facility serving this
region. With the City investing $2S0,000, the YMCA would provide
residents of Centerville for IS years, a 2S% discount on joining fees, a
10% discount on monthly membership dues and provide four (4)

"

S
