<br />theme for the City regardless if a Historical Preservation Committee is established. Mr. <br />Montain shared with the committee his recent visit to Biwabik in Iron Lake. He was <br />impressed by the redevelopment of the City and suggested staff make a phone call to find out <br />the process they took in their redevelopment. Further discussion on this item will be tabled <br />and placed on the February agenda. <br /> <br />B. Phase I. <br /> <br />Ms. Fairbrother identified idea photos provided by the City engineer, focusing on downtown <br />streetscapes and lighting. Mr. Travis indicated the photos were only "ideas" and discussion <br />on these ideas would take place at the Joint Committee Meeting currently scheduled for <br />January 19, 2000 at City Hall. Mr. Rehbine referenced the Phase I Downtown <br />Redevelopment Report - Centerville Road, provided by Bonestroo Rosene Anderlik & <br />Associates. Mr. Rehbine felt the following items were of interest and concern for the <br />committee as well as the City if a "theme" was going to be established. <br /> <br />. Zoning item focusing on 0 to 5 foot set backs <br />. Rear entrances being as appealing as the front entrances <br />. Sidewalks located on both sides of the street. <br />. Cost to residential properties in the proposed redevelopment area (assessment and <br />hook up to City sewer and water) <br /> <br />Mr. Travis identified a major component in the redevelopment process will focus around the <br />results of the current public works facility and with the redevelopment ofCenterville Road. <br /> <br />The Economic Development Committee agreed they would like a representative from EDC to <br />participate in reviewing the proposals received by the City in reference to the future <br />development of the public works site. Ms. Fairbrother will submit a letter to City <br />Administrator Jim March and the City Council indicating the EDC's concerns and request for <br />Mr. Rehbine to be involved in reviewing the proposals on behalf of Centerville' s Economic <br />Development Committee. <br /> <br />C. YMCA <br /> <br />Ms. Scheller reported her husband continues to be a member of the YMCA committee. Ms. <br />Scheller will include updated YMCA information to be included in the February packet. <br /> <br />STAR CITY GOALS AND OBJECTIVES <br /> <br />A. Winter Activity /Event <br /> <br />The committee discussed possible activities that would incorporate Star City Goal Number <br />I, Objective Number 3, Task D which reads: "Organize winter activities to draw more <br /> <br />- 2- <br />
