<br />City Attorney Hoeft indicated the property could be financed from other sources such as <br />an interfund loan. <br /> <br />Council Member Lee said he thinks the City could come up with the money to do it and <br />he feels Park and Recreation is in favor of doing it in spite of the price increase. <br /> <br />City Attorney Hoeft commented that this is a nice piece of property and this opportunity <br />for that type of property will not happen again so that is a factor to take into <br />consideration. He then said that there is the option of the City purchasing the two lots <br />together for $663,000 but the home on the lot would need to be tom down. <br /> <br />Ms. Stephens commented that there are some members of Park and Recreation who do <br />not want it. <br /> <br />Ms. Bender indicated they are concerned about spending dollars that they do not have yet <br />and may not get. <br /> <br />Council discussed talking to the board to ask if they would leave the pipe in and add the <br />parkland deed restriction in exchange for a lower purchase price. <br /> <br />City Attorney Hoeft indicated the City may want to get them to move the pipe so the City <br />can do permanent landscaping and walkway or a building. He then indicated that there is <br />an individual who lives on the other side of the existing home that is eager to purchase <br />some or all of this property and has the wherewithal to do so if the City does not. <br /> <br />Council Member Lee suggested that Mayor and the Chair of the Park and Recreation <br />Committee go to the board to try to work out a deal on the price. <br /> <br />Mayor Capra asked if the City could ask for an extension of time if the board agrees to a <br />lower price and leaving the pipe in. <br /> <br />Council Member Lee indicated he would like to discuss this at the all committee meeting. <br /> <br />Mayor Capra commented that this is the only option that the City has or will have for <br />park space on the lake. <br /> <br />Council Member Lakso said it is an opportunity to enhance the City park system for the <br />enjoyment of residents if there is a way to figure out the financing for the purchase. <br /> <br />City Attorney Hoeft indicated that he would need to discuss the assessment with them <br />and would take the position that it gets deducted out of their proceeds. <br /> <br />Page 8 of 10 <br />
