Parks & Recreation Committee <br /> Meeting Minutes 11-04-09 <br /> <br />Chairperson Seeley gave Mr. Jon Grahek the Oath of Office and welcomed him to the <br />committee. <br /> <br />Skate Night 2010 <br /> <br />1.The committee usually sponsors 2 nights each winter, including a bon fire, hot <br />drinks, popcorn and skating. A horse drawn hayride is offered at one event. <br /> <br />2.The committee selected the dates of January 9 & February 6, 2010. <br /> <br />3.Committee Member Amundsen volunteered to contact Bunker Hill Stables for <br />availability. <br /> <br />4.Committee Member Branch lead discussion on spending and budget review to better <br />manage our funding and not under spend our budget. <br /> <br />5.The committee preferred the horse drawn hayride to be at the January 9th event. <br /> <br />Movies in the Park <br /> <br /> <br />1.The committee discussedequipment required and the quality of equipment <br />necessary for projection and sound. <br /> <br />2.Committee Member Peterson has documentation which will be supplied to Ms. <br />Stephan to incorporate into minutes. <See Attached> <br /> <br />3.Committee Member Peterson added that a projector and sound systems can be <br />rented starting at $150 each. <br /> <br />4.Committee Member Haiden suggested the possibility of borrowing from an <br />employer and using a personal sound system. A laptop could play a DVD. <br /> <br />5.Committee Member Amundsen brought up that in the summer it gets dark late <br />which could be past many children’s bedtime. A certain level of darkness would be <br />needed to view a movie. <br /> <br />6.Committee Member Peterson suggested the possibility of local advertisements being <br />displayed before the movie. <br />VI. UPDATES <br /> <br />5 K Run <br /> <br />1.Committee Member Branch stated Fairview paid the final of the bills (shirts). <br /> <br />2.Chairperson Seeley asked Committee Member Branch for business and press <br />contacts for future committee use. <br /> <br />Naming of Parks <br /> <br />1.Cornerstone Park won the most votes. <br /> <br />2.Trailside Park won the most votes. <br />Motion was made by Committee Member Grahek, seconded by Committee Member <br />Amundsen to recommend City Council approve the names of Cornerstone Park for the <br />piece of park property closest to St. Genevieve’s Church and Trailside Park for the piece <br />3 of 4 <br /> <br />
