Council discusses implications far <br /> decision making and teamwork. <br /> 10:15 Role Clarification <br /> Discussion regarding the role of the Council, Boards, Commissions and community opinion <br /> in planning future directions for the city. <br /> 12:00 noon Lunch <br /> 12:30 p.m. Trends <br /> Council brainstorms trends which they believe will be affecting the city over the next 5 <br /> y ears. Statistical data from objective sources will be used to confirm those trends. <br /> 1:00 Analysis of Current Situation <br /> In light of the projected trends for the future, Council discusses the internal strengths and <br /> weaknesses of the city' as well as discussing opportunities and threats from the external <br /> environment. <br /> 1:45 Issue Identification <br /> Identification of the critical issues which must be addressed by the Council over the next 1 -3 <br /> years. <br /> 2:15 Prioritizing <br /> Through informal goring mechanisms, Council agrees on priorities for the next year. <br /> •145 Action Planning <br /> Council provides direction regarding the general approach to each of the issues and provides <br /> expectations and timelines for staff. <br /> 3:45 Closure <br /> Psrticipan(s will evaluate the learning:: and experiences of the day and discuss next steps to <br /> • follow up with the process they have begun. <br /> 4:00 Adjourn <br />
