to work with the Church to get a trail through, or on the edge of the property currently
owned by St. Genevieve's. The next thing would be to ensure that we have some
connection to the Wargo Nature Center, followed by a trail connection in Hugo. The
group would also like to see a complete circle trail around Centerville Lake. The reason
this item is ranked lower on the priority list; is because its progress will depend on County
Road 14 improvements. Mr. LeBlanc added that there are also other possibilities that -
could be looked into at a later time.
Mr. LeBlanc then reviewed the groups priorities in reference to the lakes. The groups
first priority would be providing lake access and a fishing pier at LaMotte Park. Mr.
LeBlanc stated St. Paul Water has some property right by LaMotte Park on the lake, that
they may want to sell. This opportunity would give the City the property needed to build
a fishing pier and an overlook spot of the downtown area. The third priority is to build a
connection between the lakes with a bridge that would allow small boat traffic to go
between the lakes.
In regards to parks, the Parks, Trails and Lakes group would like to ensure that we get the
equipment and shelters that residents want. Through the submittals of grants, the group
feels that the city parks can be properly developed and redeveloped. A brief discussion
was held on the Acorn Creek grant and the efforts that went into the grant application.
Mr. LeBlanc added that in a conversation he had with Jeff Gibbens of the Minnesota
Department of Transportation, there is a program available through MnDot to help
communities with landscaping issues; depending on the criteria. This opportunity for
funding should be looked at in greater detail as ideas progress.
COUNTY ROAD 14
Update presented by Tim Swedberg
Mr. Swedberg gave a detailed presentation on the different issues facing County Road 14.
Mr. Swedberg pointed out the postive and negative aspects of the issues, but indicated
that no decisions have been made at this point; and more detailed information will be
discussed at the April 14, 1999 City Council meeting. Anoka County Commissioner
MargarerLangfeld will be at the council meeting to address the County Road 14 issues.
ENTRANCE TASKS
Update by Jim March
Mr. March began the discussion by stating the County Bank is scheduled to close on April
I, 1999. The bank would be located on the far east boundary in Centerville, west of 21st
Ave north of Main Street. Mr. March continued stating that he has spoken with the
bank, and they have shown interest in providing an easement on the southeast comer of
the property, to place an entrance monument. The ideal time to construct the monument
would be during the development of that site. Mr. March concluded stating that further
details have not yet been discussed.
2
