The committee commented that the exhibits would be more visually <br /> appealing as well as easier to display if the exhibits were paced on an easel. <br /> Motion by Ms. Capra, seconded by Mr. Magill to purchase three easels for the use <br /> of displaying the Design Team portable exhibits. <br /> C. Phase I. Mr. Rehbine indicated interest in moving forward with Design Team ideas and <br /> concepts. Ms. Fairbrother indicated that at the October 26, 1999 City Council <br /> Workshop, Mr. March addressed the public works site appraisal, and the cost of bringing <br /> water to the site. Along with conducting a feasibility report for the water main extension <br /> to downtown, City Engineer Tom Peterson will also be submitting an idea/project cost <br /> evaluation on the Design Team ideas for "streetscapes" in that area. (Historic lighting, <br /> decorative sidewalk, etc.). Council Member Travis indicated that he would update the <br /> committee on the feasibility study results when it is completed. <br /> STAR CITY GOALS AND OBJECTIVES <br /> The committee discussed possible activities that would incorporate Star City Goal Number 1, <br /> Objective Number 3, Task D which reads: "Organize winter activities to draw more customers to <br /> local businesses." Ideas included: A snowshoeing event, winter Olympics, sleigh rides, cross <br /> country-ski races, snow /ice sculpture contest, and multi -level events throughout a weekend. <br /> The focus of the activities would be to benefit local businesses by providing increased foot traffic, <br /> and possibly establish a coupon book. I <br /> The committee will bring back ideas to the December meeting for discussion. The committee <br /> would like to put together a plan for presentation at the May business appreciation dinner, with <br /> intent to incorporate the activities next winter_ <br /> Mr. Rehbine indicated he would like this item to remain on the agenda, and noted if there is an <br /> activity /event the committee could put together for this winter, it would be a great benefit for the <br /> residents, businesses and the City. <br /> SPECIAL REVENUE FUND <br /> Ms. Fairbrother distributed a balance statement prepared by Deputy Clerk Teresa Bender. The <br /> committee felt the statement was missing some expenses, and also questioned the Newsletter <br /> Revenues of $1062.00. Ms. Fairbrother will discuss these items with Ms. Bender, and provide the <br /> committee with an updated Special Revenue Fund balance statement at the December EDC <br /> meeting. <br /> Page 2 of 3 <br />
