permit an animal fight. <br /> 24.14 Dog Houses. A person in charge or control of any dog which is kept outdoors or in an <br /> unheated enclosure shall provide the dog with shelter and bedding as prescribed in this <br /> section as a minimum. <br /> (1) The shelter shall include a moisture proof and wind proof structure of suitable <br /> size to accommodate the dog and allow retention of the body heat. - <br /> (2) Shade from the direct rays of the sun, during the months fo June to September <br /> shall be provided. <br /> (3) A dog kept on a farm may be provided with access to a barn with sufficient <br /> quantity of loose hay or bedding to protect against cold and dampness. <br /> (4) All shelters required by this section shall be subject to all building or zoning <br /> regulations of any city, township, county or state. <br /> 24.15 Guard Dog Warning Signs. <br /> A person maintaining a dog for security purposes within the City shall post a sign at all <br /> entrances tot he property. Said sign shall be a minimum of 6" x12 ", with letters of <br /> contrasting color, a minimum of 2" in height, and a brush stroke of `/2" minimum, with the <br /> following words affixed to such sign, "DANGER - GUARD DOG". <br /> 24.16 Abandoned Animals. <br /> Upon written notice of the Chief of Police that private property is attracting or providing <br /> shelter to animals that are not owned or cared for by any known person, the owner of such <br /> property shall be responsible for removing such animals in a human manner within thirty <br /> (30) days of such a written notice. <br /> 24.17 Animals Presenting a Danger to Health and Safety of City. If, in the reasonable <br /> belief of any person or police officer, an animal presents an immediate danger to the <br /> health and safety of any person, or the animal is threatening imminent harm to any <br /> person, or the animal is in the process of attacking any person, the officer may <br /> destroy the animal in a proper and humane manner. Otherwise the person or officer <br /> may apprehend the animal and deliver it to the pound for confinement under 24.07 <br /> If the animal is destroyed, a charge of seventy-five dollars ($75.00) to dispose of the <br /> animal is payable by the owner of the animal. If the animal is found not to be a <br /> danger to the health and safety of the City, it may be released to the owner or keeper <br /> in accordance with 24.07, Subd. 3. <br /> Animal Ordinance #24 - Updated 9/99 Page 14 of 23 <br />
