* Features (standard and unique)
* Ins Ration (time, tools, supervisor, delivery)
* Service (before and after the sale)
* Warranty
* Bang for the Buck (cost)
* References and On -Site evaluations
The vendors used were as follows:
* Playworld Systems (Midwest Playscapes Inc.) Bid of $55,000. Playworld will
deliver the equipment and will let it sit in the truck for $10 per day until the City is
ready to install the equipment.
* Game Time ( MN/WI Playground Inc.) Bid of $53,400. Game Time is a family
owned business. They will deliver the equipment on a Tuesday and it would have to sit
there until the City is ready to install it which would probably be on a Saturday. There
is also a fee of $350 per person (from Game Time) to help with the setting up of the
play structure. This structure has a feature called "Mega- Lock" which enables the
volunteers who are setting up the equipment to just snap and lock the pieces together.
The footings have to be exactly the same, but ultimately this would be better for setting
up the structure. This particular play structure has a continuous playfold which means
children can go around and up and down and through the whole structure without ever
turning around. The children really like this structure because it has a big dinosaur at
the beginning of the entrance. The kids refer to this park as the "Dinosaur Park ".
* Kid Builders (Flanagan Sales Inc.) Bid of $55,000. Kid Builders uses Little Tykes
play equipment in their play structures. The representative from Kid Builders didn't
push the sale very well, so the CNN wasn't very impressed.
Note: None of the bids listed above include ground cover (fiber system), curb enclosure (timbers),
concrete or pole drilling. These fees are all included in the final estimate of $90,590.
The bids also include five (5) matching benches, two (2) picnic tables and two (2) litter
receptacles. It should take approximately eight (8) weeks for delivery.
Members of the Park and Recreation Committee questioned which vendor the CNN would like to
see most, Mr. Fairbrother felt either of the two (2) vendors (Playworld Systems or Game Time)
would be nice. Ms. Fairbrother mentioned that Playworld has been incredible as far as following
up with the CNN. If the CNN requested something specific, the were very quick in getting back
with the results. Ms. Fairbrother felt they were a great company to work with.
The Park and Recreation Committee felt comfortable with the recommendation the CNN gave for
Game Time MN / WI Playground Inc., and asked Mr. Porter to continue on with the
recommendation / motion.
Motion by Mr. Porter based on the review process done by CNN, Park and Recreation
members and interested citizens, to accept the proposal presented by Game Time, MN/WI
Playground Inc. (with room for adjustments) and to advise City Council to proceed with
the first stage of development for Acorn Creek Park. Motion seconded by Mr. Brown. All
