Lazer Light Technologies offers fund raisers with Lazer Scribed Bricks.
The Park and Recreation Committee - briefly looked- information and discussed the
information. The general consensus of the committee was that the City and/or Park and
Recreation Committee is not ready or in-the need -of afund raiser.
Park and Recreation Committee Sponsored Youth Activities
Ms. Lien asked the Park and Recreation Committee if they wanted to pursue- sponsoring
events for the children of Centerville. Such events would include: kite flying, track and
field, softball tournaments, volleyball tournaments, bike racing, etc.
The general consensus of the Park and Recreation Committee was that there are so many
events offered through Lino Lakes, Centennial School District and surrounding
conununities that they didn't feel the need to offer them through Centerville. Mr. Brown
felt it all came down time and money; adding the Park and Recreation Committee
volunteers their time for City issues. Adding, that not many of the members have time to
help with outside events. Mr. Porter felt it would be-something to do for fun, adding -that
maybe the City could offer prizes. Mr. Larson mentioned that in Lino Lakes, not
everyone volunteers, the City pays for their time Mr. Sweeney clarified, only Park and
Recreation are paid in Lino Lakes. Mr. Larson suggested that maybe it is time for the City
of Centerville to consider hiring a Parks and Recreation Director. Mr. Brown-didn't feel
the City has the need nor the money for that position at this time.
DISCUSSION ITEMS
Mr. Larson brought attention to the condition of the slide-at Royal Meadows Park.
Basically the slide is shot, and ready to fall down. It needs to be removed. Also, the
swing set is in poor condition. Mr. Larson stated that he had already spoke with Mr. Paul
Palzer (Building Official) about purchasing a new swing. Mr. Palzer told Mr. Larson that
it would cost the City approximately $400 - $600 to repair the current swing. It would be
more beneficial for the City to purchase a new swing.
Motion by Dale Larson to have Public Works remove the slide at Royal Meadows
Park. Motion seconded by Doug Porter. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously.
3
