/ CONSULTING ENGINEERS
Maier Stewart & Associates Inc.
February 10, 1993
File No: 260- 000-00
Honorable Mayor and City Council
City of Centerville
City Hall
1880 Main Street
Centerville, MN 55038
RE; REROUTING
Dear Mayor Buckbee:
City Administrator Siebenaler requested that we review the February 8th letter from the City
Engineer in Lino I Aires concerning the vacation of Mill Road in the City of Centerville (see
attached).
Mr. Schneider makes the following points, our comments follow.
Final
The proposed 60 foot right -of -way of Ojibway Road °would be a restriction on the future
establishment of this street as part of the state aid system ".
MSA COMMENTS
A. The Municipal State Aid system rules state that a 60' right-of-way is acceptable in a
municipality (see section 8820.2500). We represent several communities which have
urban roadways that are on their State Aid system with right -of -ways of 60'.
B. If Mr. Rehbien's proposal to vacate Mill Road is approved, we envision that Ojibway
Road will be considered to be a local collector. As such a 36' wide roadway will be
required (complys with section 8820.9935 of MSAS) and a 66' wide right -of -way will
be required by city code.
POINT 2
A MSAS "street cannot be an isolated segment" and "it would seem that the 73rd street - Mill
Road South loop would have to be established on the future Centerville MSAS system before
Centerville & Lino Lakes could jointly consider designating Mill Road as part of our MSAS
systems."
1959 SLOAN PLACE, SUITE 200, ST.
