P &Z Meeting Minutes
September 5, 1991
•
page four
Possibility of Amending Ordinance #4. Section 36.06 TMPROVEMENT
AND MATNTFNANCF
Discussion on the proposed amendment requiring all driveways
abutting City street prior to adoption of this amendment shall
construct a driveway apron to extend from the street to the
property line (within the street. right -of -way).
It was noted that some of the reason for this requirement would
be to help reduce debris in the streets. This debris appears to
hinder drainage on some City streets. Also certain streets
within the City require more street sweeping.
Commission member Vermeulen expressed that the proposed ordinance
was too restrictive. The City streets are already swept.
Commission member Drilling, in his opinion, did not see a need to
amend the ordinance. The City does not pay tonnage for street
sweeping.
Motion by Drilling, second by Vermeulen to recommend to the City
Council that Ordinance #4, Section 36.06 IMPROVEMENT AND
MAINTENANCE not be amended as proposed citing the following
reasons:
- the current Section 36.06 is acceptable as is;
- the proposed amendments are toorestrictive;
- the new developments are required to have a hard
surface driveway,
motion carried unanimously.
A copy of the proposed amendment is attached to and made a part
of these minutes.
Adjourn
Motion by Welk, second by LaMotte to adjourn the meeting, motion
carried unanimously. Meeting adjourned 8:45 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Sanna E. Buckbee
Assistant City Clerk
