P &R MEETING MINUTES <br /> OCTOBER 5, 1994 <br /> PAGE THREE <br /> Committee member Pelton suggested investigating ways to attract <br /> the community to use the programs offered by North Metro <br /> Recreation Commission. <br /> It was noted that the Centerville Park and Recreation Committee <br /> needs to have a member attend the North Metro Recreation <br /> Commission meetings. <br /> Motion by Pelton, second by Navin to approve the 1995 line item <br /> budget as amended, motion carried unanimously. <br /> DNR - Outdoor Recreation Grant Program Update. <br /> Committee member Pelton updated the committee regarding the grant <br /> process. There was no questions regarding the grant process. <br /> Committee member Pelton will continue to research the possibility <br /> of a grant. The primary reason for the applying for the grant is <br /> the purchase of park land extension to Central Park. Committee <br /> member Pelton noted the purchase of the land would need to wait <br /> until the grant is approved to purchase the land and develop. <br /> Extension of Central Park. <br /> Committee member Pelton questioned Liaison Brenner on the City <br /> Council's position regarding the extension of Central Park. <br /> Liaison Brenner talked about the need for a second water tower <br /> and noted she is opposed to purchasing an extension to Central <br /> Park using Tax Increment Financing. <br /> Chairperson Dixon questioned why the City Council would not wait <br /> until businesses come first before the building of a second <br /> tower. <br /> Liaison Brenner expressed concern regarding whether the City <br /> would qualify for the grant because of the difference between the <br /> appraisal and the actual cost. <br /> Motion by Navin, second by Dixon to request the City Council to <br /> pass a resolution to meet with the LaMotte Family to discuss the <br /> process of the grant (i.e. time frame /money availability) motion <br /> carried unanimously. <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Shared Services - ADA - Circle Pines /Lino Lakes. <br /> It was noted this is a program that involves handicap programs. <br /> Committee member Pelton will go to the meeting to ask them to <br /> become involved with the North Metro Recreation Commission. The <br /> Park and Recreation Committee does not currently have funds <br /> available to assist. <br />
