Ensure the city provides developers with a packet of information detailing requirements of 4rails, "sidewalks,"
and other park related material. For example, ensure it says the class V for trails (or the trails themselves if
possible) must be put in first so all can see where the trails go before people buy. (Target Feb, 2001, P&Z rush.)
Other General 'Topics
Review requirements for park distriburion in the city. Generally, I suggest a park be withiu 1 /4 mile of every
home (that's a park every'h mile). (Target spring 2001.)
Review square area of parks in Centerville and compare it with other cities_ This will pravide a guideline on
open space desired. (Target spring 2001.)
Review requirements for satellites. Specifically, does there need to be a hard surface for maintenance? How far
will the hoses reach, can they go longer? The concern is ruts and compacted grass if soil is wet. {Target spring
2001— before satellite placement.}
Provide residents a map of trails and sidewalks in the city. (Target completion spring 2001.)
A map of each park along with a description of facilities should be available on city web pages and in printed
form. (Target completion spring 2001 _)
Speccs for Each Park
Acorn Park
Remove the silt fence aiong the east end. I
Consider a public fence like that of the neighbor to prevent traffic on #he grass. I
Consider the location of a parking lot in the future.
Consider access to satellite via a new access from the northeast in the future. In the interim, consider access I,
from the west. Decide the route.
Satellite needs border. I
Pick up the orange cone in the southeast end of the park.
Some turf work appeazs needed in the northeast. '
Monitor the following and fix if warranted: The trail ends at a catch basin in the street. A direct access to the
trail from Brian Drive should be provided if possible. Perhaps blacktop will fit on either side of the catch basin —
perhaps nvt. Otherwise, people may bike and waik on the grass and it will never recover.
(All the above are short term except for the monitoring task.)
Tracie McBride Park
A possible Lion's shelter could go toward the northeast azea of the park.
Remove the logs azound the trees and shrubs on the north end of the park (2 places).
Repair the rotted and splintered log on the north end of the play area.
The wood logs around all the play areas will have to be competely redone in 2 to 5 years. They are sagging
outward and there is no hope of repair. Suggest a budget item for 2003 to replace the whole thing with stone or
concrete.
Paint the basketball pole.
Remove some of the shrubs in the north and west section. It's overgrown.
Move the newiy planted tree that is too close to the power lines. Put it where the old one was (farther west).
Satellite needs border.
Replace the garbage can cover (apparently it is in the pond).
Roval Meadows Park
Satellite to go in the south and east end but needs a border from the adjoining home.
