 ,
. Hugo, Lino Lakes, Anoka County, and Washington County will plan to provide a trail that will run from the existing Hugo trail to a
proposed pedestrian bridge at 35E and Clearwater Creek. There seems to be several options regazding a redirected Highway 8 and
certain development plans in progress. There may be more than one trail that converges to the 35E and Clearwater Creek junction.
Centerville, Lino Lakes, and Anoka County will plan to provide a trail from Centerville to 35E and Clearwater Creek to join the trail to
Hugo via a pedestrian bridge at that locarion.
Mayor Tom Wilharber thought he might be able to find out something about the fmancing and other details of the pedestrian bridge on
610. He also thought the City of Centerville engineer might have some information regarding the plan.
Lino Lakes may think about various options to connect other Lino Lakes trails existing to the west to the proposed trail running
north/south on the St Paul Water easement and Birch St.
St Paul Water has no particular problem with trails on their easement as long as the owners (probably the City of Centerville and Lino
Lakes) sign their agreement. A paved surface is not a problem. Trees are a problem and would not be allowed on the easement. Cities
should understand that St Paul Water might have to repair or otherwise disturb a paved surface if there was a problem with their water
mains. The Cities would be responsible for the repair of the trail.
The Rice Creek Trails snowmobile organization had an issue with a change in a snowmobile route through the Chain of Lakes Park
and they are talking to Anoka Parks about that issue.
TIME CRITICAL ACTIONS
Anoka Parks menrioned that there may be a Met Council meeting in November, 2000, regarding trail plans. John VonDelinde, if you
would determine deadlines, I would try to hit those deadlines with a new proposal. If there are any suggested formats or other
information necessary, please let me know.
Development of property at Waterworks and west of Waterworks may lead to some time critical planning for a trail there.
Mention was made that the next opportunity for funding for a pedestrian bridge would be 2002. If there are any interim dates of
consequence, that would be useful. '
If anyone is aware of any grants, property for sale, or other time critical events of any kind, please forward the informarion. Also, if I
there are any further suggestions or ideas, please forward them and I will try to coordinate.
Again, thank you all for attending this meering!!! Much was accomplished, and I believe that, with the power of a common goal, the
efficiency of email, and a little innovative engineering and financing, we'll see the trail interconnections become real. T'hese trails then
wiil provide the conduit for communities to share their diverse resources for the betterment of everyone. It's a win-win, all the way
around!
2
I
