Mr. Bisek stated he would discuss spIitting costs with his neighbors to eliminate the <br /> immediate problem Hs th�n stat�i h� feels there is some City responsibitity to salve the <br /> problem for the future. <br /> Mayor Swedberg stated the drainage is a long standing issue tha.t Council is unsure how <br /> to-soive at this point. He asked Staffto research the matter and present p�ssible solutions <br /> to the problem. He then told Mr. Bisek he may need to solve the problem on his own for <br /> this spring as the issue will take time to resolve. <br /> Mr. Bisek stated he could solve the problem by pumping water out of his �ot into the <br /> stre�t. Tha,t wauld th�n cause a drainage prflblem for someon� else. He then stated that <br /> would not be a solution to the problem and he feels the City should help lvm solve the <br /> problem. <br /> Mayor Swedberg stated the City conld not immediately soive the problem and stated Mr. <br /> Bisek coutd. <br /> Council Member Travis asked Mr. Bisek how he wished the City to solve the drainage <br /> problem <br /> Mr. Bisek stated City Staffcould jet the line from Progress Street and televise the pipe to <br /> look into what the problem is. <br /> City Attorney Hoe$ stated the City does not have a practice of jetting private drainage <br /> lines and cautioned against doing so. <br /> Mr. Bisek asked Council what he shou.id do to solve the drainage issue, noting he came to <br /> Council to make th�m aware of the problem a.nd instead fee�s he is getting a line of legai <br /> mumbo jumbo. <br /> Ma.yor Swedberg stated Council was not prepazed to solve a forty-year problem this <br /> evening and told Mr. Bisek Staff would research the matter and contact him. <br /> Council Member NeLson stated she would like to have a workshap to discuss City <br /> infrastructure issues to get a head of these types of issues for the future. <br /> Mr. Bisek noted ail the drains from the downtown area drain into the Iake and nobody at <br /> ths Citx knows abQUt it. <br /> Mr. March noted he understands why the City does not want to set a precedence for <br /> jetting private drainage lines, but questioned what type of liability or obligation the City <br /> has for drainage coming from City property. <br /> City Attorney Hoeft stated the City would not liave responsibility for drainage coming <br /> from City property. He then stated the oniy thing tha.t is known for certain is there is a <br /> private drainage system on privat� property that th� property owner needs t� deal with. <br /> Page9of15 <br />
