April 16, 2001 <br /> Fete des Lacs Festival Committee Meeting Minutes <br /> Sweeney stated that something needed to be acted on. Mr. Cordel suggested that the <br /> Comrnittee consider button contest similar to that of the City of Blaine's Blazin' 4�' <br /> button contest. Chair DeVine stated that this item was discussed earlier in the planning <br /> stages and now time does not allow for this years festival. Chair DeVine questioned the <br /> length of time it takes to arrange a button contest. Mr. Cordel stated that generally flyers <br /> are distributed in January or February and allow March to be the deadline for entries. Mr. <br /> Cardel felt that there would be ample amount of time to conduct a contest for the buttons. <br /> 2. Beach Partv <br /> Committee Member Peil stated that they would set-up the tent in the hockey rink. Chair <br /> DeVine stated that the Original Knight of Rock and Roll, former member of the White <br /> Sidewalls. <br /> 3. 5 K Run/Teen Dance <br /> Chair DeVine stated that there was nothing new to report with the absence of Committee <br /> Member Travis. <br /> 4. Buttons '', <br /> Chair DeVine stated that this item was previously discussed. <br /> 5. . Softball Tournament <br /> Chair DeVine stated that he and Mr. Bisek had met with the Minnesota Recreation <br /> Association and the City of Centerville is booked for the regional tournament. There will �I <br /> be 40 to 60 teams participating, however, an opportunity has risen for them to broken in '� <br /> to two (2). Chair DeVine stated that was his suggestion due to the fact that 20 to 30 <br /> teams would be more than enough for this event. Committee Member DeVine stated that <br /> Mr. Bisek had received a letter from the City of Lino Lakes stating that most of there <br /> fields were in residential areas and not capable of handling the crowds or traffic that <br /> would be associated with tournament play. Chair DeVine stated that he needed to meet <br /> with Mr. Palzer, Public Works, to ascertain the length of the fields. Committee Member <br /> Peil questioned the days of the tournaments. Chair DeVine stated that depending on the <br /> amount of teams, but he felt it would be Friday, Saturday and Sunday. <br /> 6. Beer & Bin�o <br /> ' Chair DeVine stated that this item would be handled by the Lions and that it would be <br /> worked on as the event draws nearer. <br /> 7. Food Vendors <br /> Chair DeVine stated that he would no seek additional vendors for the event; however, he <br /> . would contact the Centerville and Hugo Lions to ascertain their desires to participate by <br /> selling bottled water. Committee Member DeVine stated that the Church desired to have <br /> a pancake breakfest on Sunday morning. Consensus was to have same at the park. <br /> Page 3 of 5 <br />
