Council xeview. Council Liaison Braussard Vickers questioned why the motion had been
pulled prior to Council reviewin it. Mr. Porter etplained that additional information had
' surfaced after the motion was mad.e. The Committee wantec to vaida.te tha.t inforrnation
before the Couacil acted on t. The information tha.t ha.d surfaced was the expense to
construct a soccer field on the church groperty, renting the property from the Church and
what type of involvemenfi/agreement the City ias with the Centennial Soccer Club. Mr.
Petersn explained that the Soccer Club has not donated anything (manetarily or
voluntarily) to the City, and therefore, can't really sa.y much about the fields or the
condition of the fields. Mr. Peterson also commented tha.t to relocate the fencing and
lien turn azound and relncate it back, would be very costly and time consuming. He
explained that his original motion was to try to make at least one of the fields (softball vs.
soccer) regutation size standards. Currently, neither the so$bail nar the soccer fields are
of regulation standards. He would like to see at least one of them brought within
regula.tion. Mr. Peterson a]so mentioned that if the softbal fields were made to be within
regulation standards, more tournaments could be offered, which in turn would geerate
more money. Additionally, tournaments would be a great source of income for the
concession selter and the concession shelter would an added attraction for the
tournaments. As far as the soccer fields go, both could be made into "U10" (youth under
age 10) fields. He is positive two (2) U14 fields will fit into the same location. Mr. Lee
commented that if the Parks and Rcreation Committee is looking ta invest a subs#antial
amount of money into this park this year, they should try to make it as useable as
possible. Mr. Walter expressed his cancern over loosing an adult soccer field. Ms. Peil
agreed with Iv1r. Peterson and Mr. Lee that the Committee should make the so#ball field
regulation standard, usable hy adults, ta help generate iacome. To have two (2) U10
soccer fields would be the trest use of the area. The followiug motion was amended as
follows:
Motion by Mr. Peterson, seconded by 14Ir, LeBlane to recommend to City Cmuncil to
move the backstop on eld #2, and the utfietd fencing on field #3, at Laurie I
LaMotte Memorial Park, per USSSA standards an reqairementa, with an atnount I
not to eceed 35U0.00. Alo to estabtish another UAO soccer field per Soccer I
Association requirements. Porter, i7reVine, Peterson, Peil, I,ee — aye. Walter — nay.
l0totion carried.
Lions oncession Stand
'Te Parks and Recreation Cominittee elected to no longer refer to the concssion shelter
as the "Lions" Concession Stand. Since the Lions Club will not be funding the shelter, it
should no longer be referred to as the "Lions Concession Stand". Ms. Lien suggested
ta.bling this item until the City leams if it is awazded the DNR Grant. If the City is not
awarded the grant, the concession shelter will not be happening this year at all.
Discussion ensued related to Mr. Bisek's proposal for a"temporary concession stand",
and the following motion was made:

 3
