* Gary Barott cailed me to ask if the Council has any interest in his property at $300,000.
If not, he is going to consider listing the property fior sale. I indicated that I had mentioned
the availability of the parcel to Council, but that there did not seem to be a lot of interest at
that price. Mr. Barott said he could see where people may think the price is high, but the
property has 200 feet of lakeshore. If anyone wants to place this item on a future agenda,
once again please let me know. I do know that Wayne LeBlanc would I+ke to see the City
purchase this property. As I have mentioned previousiy, i do not think the City should
purchase property with the hopes of being ab{e to install a trail around the lake until we
know the feasibility of such a prosect. The City can always condemn the property in the
future, if it becomes a necessity.
* Hanna from the Hugonian called me to express concern that the City was not taking a
defensive approach to stop the RCWD from plugging the culvert that runs between
Centervilfe and Peftier Lake. Hanna indicated that the Design Team vision was to have the
lakes connected with a bridge. I explained to Hanna that the RCWD was trying to prolong
the effectiveness of their treatment of the water in Centervitle Lake with alum. This
treatment cost approximately $80,000 and is only effective for a few years. The culvert
befinreen the lakes aliows water to flow back and forth freely, thereby reducing the water
quaiity in Centerville Lake. Once again, there has not been a feasibility study conducted
that would show whether a bridge over the two lakes would be beneficial. Currently there is
milfoi{ in Peltier Lake and not in Centervil{e Lake. f further explained that plugging tfe
culvert is a reversibte process and is a short term project, whereas finding the funding for
constructing a bridge that would san across a canal between the two lakes is more than
likely a long term project.
* Enjoy your weekend! There's no snow in the forecast.
11 /5/99
