Public works is ready for I
snow. ,
* I had a meeting with Willie Lessard this week. Mr. Lessard indicated that Lake Elmo i
bank wants to appear before planning and zoning with a plan to purchase his propety I
south of his existing building on 20th Avenue for a branch facility. The bank president and
CEO have visited the site. He said they did not seem to care that another bank was
proposing to build within the community. This bank is building branches throughout the ',
aea. This bank is also supposedly financing the Odyssey Lures building. Mr. Lessard
said that Media Junction will be a tenant in the new Odyssey Lures building. They are
hoping to move into the building by June 1st of next year. Mr. Lessard also indicated that
the Dairy Queen that is to be built next to the Amoco in Lino Lakes is a true story. The
owner of the Dairy Queen is Mr. Lessards cousin from Hugo. His cousin sold his business
in Hugo (Lessard/Nyren Utilities) and purchased the franchise for Dairy Queen and the lot
next to the Amoco.
* Lloyd Drilling stopped at City Hall to request a rezone for the house (1873 Main Street)
directly across the street from City Hall. Mr. Drilling was approached by the property owner
to buy the parcel. The house is adjacent to the vacant lot east of Peterson Trail that Mr.
Drilling currently owns. If 1873 Main Street was rezoned to commercial, then the entire
frontage on Main Street from Peterson Trail to Shad Avenue would be commercial. From a
planning standpoint this makes perfect sense. In my opinion, the house across the street
from City Hall is somewhat substandard. If this property was rezoned, then a trail could
also be installed along Main Street to connect to the trail to be installed in front of the
11 / 19/99
