Ouali �ing Requirements 1. Project Description - The propased project involves the construction of approximately 2300 lineal feet of 8' wide asphalt trail. The trai� is designed to interconnect several already linked new and e�sting residential subdivisions in Centerville through the City's largest municipal park and then link into the Anoka County Rice Creek Regional Park Reserve trail system (See E�ibit A). The project would allow severai thousand users to directly access a major public recreational facility. The Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Regional Park Reserve currently contains picnic areas, parking, boat launches, canoe launches, fishing pier, campgrounds, Wargo Nature Center, Heritage Lab, a prairie restoration project, cross country ski trails, a swimming beach with bathhouse/restrooms, playground, drinking fountain and Chomonix Golf Course. Anoka County currently is planning to make several upgrades to the Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Regional Park Reserve. The improvements have been authorized and funded by the Metropolitan Council. The anticipated budget of these improvements is included as E�ibit B. As these improvements begin construction in the fa11 of 1999, the timing is perfect for the City of Centerville to subrnit this application. This grant application is being submitted due to the extreme iznportance to the City of Centerville and the surrounding axea to have a local access to this significant public recreation facility. � 2. Project Goals - The goal for this project is to allow the following users to access the Rice �', Creek Regional Paxk Reserve : hikers, walkers, joggers, runners, bicyclists, in-line skaters and ��, cross country skiers. The trailway is being designed wide enough to accommodate multiple uses ��, by a variety of users. '� 3. Project Costs - The project costs have been delineated by the City of Centerville's consultant engineer. The firm of Bonestroo, Rosene, Anderlik and Associates has provided a detailed cost breakdown of a11 components involved in constructing this trail linkage project (See E�ibit C}. 4. Evidence of Project Support - There are several groups that have been involved in the development of the CentervilIe trail system. Included in the grant application are a couple key letters of support. One letter of support is from the Director of Parks and Recreation from Anoka County. The second letter is from a grassroots neighborhood group that has recently farmed to work with the City of Centerville's Park and Recreation Committee for the promation and development of the community's trail and park systern. If the application was not limited to a total of eight pages, I could include many other letters of support from individuals and families that have a desire to see Centerville establish a trail linkage with the Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Regional Park Reserve.
