City. The trail construction involved three different contractors and three separate projects. The
result was multiple subdivisions became linked within the City. By completing this project, the
City has demonstrated the ability to complete trail construction projects.
D. Community commitment to trail use - The City of Centerville has shown that it is
committed to trail use by the heavy utilization of the City's existing trails.
E. Impact on aajoinng landowners in the vicinity of the project - There would be little
impact to adjoining landowners in the vicinity of this project. To the west of the project site is
Centerville Lake. Ta the north of the project site is appromately 15 vacant acres of land owned ,
by St. Genevieve's Catholic Church. The Church has no immediate plans for development. To ,
the east of the site is residential properties. These property owners have been at past Park and '
Recreation Committee meetings to voice their support for the further development of La.Motte '
Park. To the south of the site is vacant farmland that will be developed residentiatly within the
ne two years.
F. Project readiness - This project would be ready to start if funding is secured. The City is
already in possession of the affected property. The trail location was predetermined, prior to the
City regrading the entire park. Pazk infrastnzcture was arranged to allow for future trail
construction when funding was identified. The City would approve the trail specifications as
designed by the City Engineer, solicit competitive bids and then award the contract to the lowest
responsible bidder.
G. Provides year round trail use - The trail would probably have the most usage in the spring ,
summer and fall months, but the trail would provide year around use. There is a hockey rink and I
peasure skating rink in LaMotte Park that are used heavily in the winter months. There also '
exists cross country ski trails in the Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Regional Park that would be
accessed in the winter months.
