Anoka County is currently in the process
of developing the master plan for funded improvements in the Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Regional
Park Reserve. One of the main components of our plan is to construct a paved trailway system
that will link to vital areas adjacent to the City of Centerville and the City of Lino Lakes. This ,
trailway system will allow the communities to have access to a significant public recreation facility i
which includes the Chain of Lakes, Chomonix Golf Course and the Wargo Nature Center. We
expect to begin construction in late 1999. ,
Due to our funding constraints, Anoka County is onfy able to bring the paved trailway system to
the southwest corner of Centerville's LaMotte Park. If the City is able to secure funding to link their
local trail connections to the Rice Creek Regional Park Reserve, this will provide direct access for
over 3000 persons living in the immediate vicinity. Many thousands of others from the northern ;
metropolitan area will beneft from the trail connection between the regional park and local
community trails. !
I hope that ou will look favorably on this grant application. If you have any questions, please feel
free to c t ct me at 612-757-3920.
Sincer y,

i
Jo n VonDeLinde
Di ector of Parks and Recreation

Affirmative Action / Equal Opportunity Employer '
i
