Jim March explained that ihere may from $SOk to $250k aailable for certain redevelopment or
developments of parks.
3.Don't necessarily completely pave the Lamotte Park parking lot.
Lamotte Park has a large parking lot. Here's an idea to consider: instead of paving the whole parking lot,
, consider using special "blocks" that ailow grass to groFV between them. For, say, one fourth to one
half of the lot, use normal paving as gtass could not take constant use. But, the lot appears to be sized
for the biggest anticipated gathering, and for those occasions, parking on the "btocks" would probably
work very well. This allows more area of the park to look green, anci, in addition, would reduce hard
surface runoff poilution for the nearby lake.
4.**Landscaping.
Jeff Gibbens pointed out that the Minnesota Department of Transportation, where he works, has programs
to help communities with landscaping. There were several conditions. Although not directly in
Centerville, the program might provide resources to help with landscaping that «ould better hide
35W from certain areas in Anoka Park and also the city of Centerville - people on Peltier lake, for
example, are well aware of 35W. Conditions include a need for volunteers for planting, property
adjacent to DOT propertq, an official request from local government, among others. These MnDOT
programs offer an opportunity for funding that should be pursued.
It was the feeling of the group that we should start with high expectations and only lover them if we have '
to. The timing of the Design Team suggestions, Anaka County Park plans and improvements, Lamotte
Park plans, and other coincidental activiries offer once in a community lifetime opporlunities that shoutd '
not be missed. Please heip make these dreams come true. Current and future residents of Centerville will ',
be thankful.
