<br />RESOLUTION 96 - 12 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING AUTHORIZATION FROM ANOKA COUNTY FOR <br />SNOWMOBILE USE ON THE SOUTH SHOULDER OF COUNTY STATE AID <br />IDGHWAY 14 (MAIN STREET) FROM COUNTY STATE AID IDGHWAY 21 <br />(CENTERVILLE ROAD) TO MILL ROAD IN THE CITY OF CENTERVILLE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Minn. Stat. 84.87, subd, lA provides in part, ''No person shall operate a <br />snowmobile upon the roadway, shoulder, or inside bank or slope of any Trunk, County <br />State Aid, or County Highway in this state and, in the case of a divided Trunk or County <br />Highway, on the right-of-way between the opposing lanes of traffic..."; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Notwithstanding the provisions of Minn. Stat. 84.87, subd. lA, a county <br />may, pursuant to Minn. Stat. 84.87, subd. 3 by resolution, allow for snowmobile traffic on <br />the shoulder of a County State Aid Highway if the county finds that safe operation in the <br />ditch or outside bank or slope thereof is not possible; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Centerville requests that the County of Anoka allow snowmobile <br />use on the south shoulder of County State Aid Highway 14 (Main Street) between County <br />State Aid Highway 21 (Centerville Road) to Mill Road because the safe operation of <br />snowmobiles in the remaining portion of right-of-way adjacent to County State Aid <br />Highway 14 is not possible; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the safe operation of both vehicles and snowmobiles on this section of <br />County State Aid Highway 14 in this area is possible: <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Centerville <br />hereby requests that snowmobile use on the south shoulder of County State Aid Highway <br />14 (Main Street) between County State Aid Highway 21 (Centerville Road) to Mill Road <br />within the City of Centerville be authorized by Anoka County Board of Commissioners. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Anoka County Highway Department shall install <br />informative directional signs at the limits of the portion of County State Aid Highway 14 <br />authorized for snowmobile use, with said signs and posts being consistent with the <br />requirements for traffic control devices within the Anoka County Highway right-of-way. <br /> <br />Adopted by Centerville City Council this 28th day of February, 1996. <br /> <br />~~ ->-ZU~""--- <br />Tom Wdharber, Mayor <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />~~' <br />Trudi Breuninger, City Clerk ~ <br />
