Altendorfer noted that training for the new Relief Deputy is scheduled to begin in May. The Group requested a listing of the overtime costs (by shift, if possible) that were paid to offset the absence of personnel last year, so they can compare these costs to the cost of the new Relief Deputy. Altendorfer requested that the Group discuss this matter at next month's meeting with the Sheriff. Urban cited deputy safety as an issue that should be considered when discussing the additional position. Hanson requested a document for city council review. Altendorfer stated that he will prepare a document. BACKGROUND CHECKS. Altendorfer reported that the BCA has changed their regulations on background checks and that they are now requiring that each community adopt a Criminal Background Check Ordinance if they wish to continue to have the Sheriffs Department provide this service. PLANNED PERSONNEL CHANGES This matter will be discussed at next month's meeting with the Sheriff. It was the Group's consensus that the Sheriff be advised that it is their desire to continue with the current staffing of Altendorfer and Salter, and they reiterated their sincere appreciation for them, noting that they are listed as a "strength" on the annual performance review, that they are consider "key" for the communities, and that the Group appreciates the stability of working with them. REVIEW 2009 MEETING SCHEDULE 1 PRELIMINARY AGENDAS / MEETING PLACE. The 2009 Meeting Schedule was reviewed, and it was decided to add goals to the January agenda, to change NNO to MN Night to Unite, and that the 2010 budget should be moved up to May and June, and recommended for adoption in. July. The schedule and agendas were approved as modified. It was decided to continue to meet at the Sheriffs Patrol Station in Arden Hills. 6
