Planning Commission Meeting
June 2, 2009
Page Two
Parks: The review is complete and it does seem to conform to the 2030
Regional Parks Policy. The only concern is that the council's website on page
12-1 to reflect the current website address.
Plan Implementation: That is also completed for review according to the
Metropolitan Council review on page 512.
Solar Access Protection: The discussion related to the solar access protection
review is complete.
Water Supply: The update is complete. The City is not operative of a water
supply system so is not required to have a water supply.
Then Chairman Craig Rafferty went an to discuss some of the issues from that
letter that had some issues.
Forecasts: The forecast -cast related review was complete, but is inconsistent
with Metropolitan Council forecasts. Need to sit down with SEH regarding the
inconsistencies. The goal is to get the information to the Metropolitan Council for
2009 and then review yearly after that.
Wastewater: As a City we need to keep our eye on the down grade capacity to
proceed whatever kind of sewer we would ever want to put in. We need to be
aware of the capacities.
A Comprehensive Plan of White Bear Township was shown around the room as
an example of what Gem Lake and SEH should strive for.
Housing: Need to work with SEH to work with the numbers to coincide with
Metropolitan Council numbers.
Individual Sewage Treatment Systems: The Metropolitan Council plan has a
different number than the City of Gem Lake has. Need to sit down with SEH to
get the process moving. How man TSTS's are in operation. There is an
inspector -that inspects every two (2) tears.
Historic Preservations: Gem Lake has no historic properties listed at this time.
Individual Sewage Treatment Systems: Needs numbers of ISTS systems in
Gem Lake. Will get numbers to them. Gem Lake has an inspector that comes
every two (2) years to inspect the systems.
Look for us on the World Wide Web at gemlakemn.org
