Highway 61. Options to explore. will include designating <br />Schueneman Road as a. one-way norofttind street, and creating <br />a dead-end with a cul-de-sac at <br />61.. the intersection of U.S. Highway. <br />•Encourao hiking/biking n Burlington <br />along the eastern of- theity, Work with .adjacent <br />communities and provide access to ttails. <br />7.0 Sanitary Sewer Plan <br />Centralized sanitary seiner facilities currently Serve ply the <br />Hoffman's comer area of the community, Schueneman Road from <br />County Road E to Highway 61, and a short :segment of Schiteneman <br />Road north. of U.S. Highway 61.*(see Figure ). In addition, the <br />church at the corner of Counter Road E and Labore Road is provided <br />sanitary sewer service from .the City of Vadnais Heights. The Census <br />of Population and Housingg indicates that there were 149 housing. <br />units in Gem Lake in 11990. Twenty-five (25) of those housing its <br />-.were connected to public sewer, while 124 housing units had <br />individual on -site septic systems. Most businesses in the community <br />.(23 in 1990) are on public sewer. The 1990 census shows: <br />employment: to be at 537 employees. The approximate sewered <br />population in 19% was 55=60, and the approximate severed <br />employment was 500. <br />A Sanitary Sewer Comprehensive Plan was developed for. the City. <br />in 1992. The City has been divided . into. eight (8) sanitary sewer <br />districts. The intercommunity connection. is or will be with Vadnais <br />Heights for the southeast, south, south central, southwest and <br />northwest districts. Tha.cortnection for the.northeast, east and east <br />central districts is the Metropolitan Waste Control Commission <br />(MWCC) belt line. interceptor. The.. existing centralized sanitary <br />sewer .facilities are.. located* in the south (west of U.S, Highway 61, <br />along County Road E), southeast (in Hoffman's corner area east of <br />U.S..Highway 61 on.both:sides of County Road E) and the east (along <br />Schueneman: Road, north of U;S.*Highway 61) districts. <br />Figure illustrates.possible extensions to the sanitary sewer <br />system of Gem Lake. Any expansions 'to the system would be <br />connected to either the Vadnais Heights system or the MWCC belt <br />line interceptor. The areas slated for possible.. expansions include <br />Schueneman Road 'and Goose Lake Road -in the. northeast district; <br />LaBore Road, Goose. Lake Road and Little Fox Lane in the northwest <br />district; Big*Fox Road, LaBore Road and County Road E in the <br />southwest district; U$: Highway .61 in the. south district; and <br />extensions to residential property located near the body of water <br />known as Gem Lake in the south central district.
