In addition, the church at the corner of Counter Road E and Labore Road is provided sanitary sewer service from .the City of Vadnais Heights. The Census of Population and Housingg indicates that there were 149 housing. units in Gem Lake in 11990. Twenty-five (25) of those housing its -.were connected to public sewer, while 124 housing units had individual on -site septic systems. Most businesses in the community .(23 in 1990) are on public sewer. The 1990 census shows: employment: to be at 537 employees. The approximate sewered population in 19% was 55=60, and the approximate severed employment was 500. A Sanitary Sewer Comprehensive Plan was developed for. the City. in 1992. The City has been divided . into. eight (8) sanitary sewer districts. The intercommunity connection. is or will be with Vadnais Heights for the southeast, south, south central, southwest and northwest districts. Tha.cortnection for the.northeast, east and east central districts is the Metropolitan Waste Control Commission (MWCC) belt line. interceptor. The.. existing centralized sanitary sewer .facilities are.. located* in the south (west of U.S, Highway 61, along County Road E), southeast (in Hoffman's corner area east of U.S..Highway 61 on.both:sides of County Road E) and the east (along Schueneman: Road, north of U;S.*Highway 61) districts. Figure illustrates.possible extensions to the sanitary sewer system of Gem Lake. Any expansions 'to the system would be connected to either the Vadnais Heights system or the MWCC belt line interceptor. The areas slated for possible.. expansions include Schueneman Road 'and Goose Lake Road -in the. northeast district; LaBore Road, Goose. Lake Road and Little Fox Lane in the northwest district; Big*Fox Road, LaBore Road and County Road E in the southwest district; U$: Highway .61 in the. south district; and extensions to residential property located near the body of water known as Gem Lake in the south central district.
