EXTENDINGTHE EXISTINGJOINT POWERS <br />AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE COMMUNITIES OF THE <br />VADNAIS LAKE AREA WATER MANAGEMENT <br />ORGANIZATION UNTIL 01 JANUARY 2007. <br />WHEREAS; VLAWMO vAs.or£;anized in 1983 .to be the responsible government unit to provide oversight and <br />managenient to see that the'requirements ofthe Metropolitan Water Management Act were enforced in the Vadnais Lake <br />Watershed area; and <br />WHEREAS, VLAWMO over the years has met the requirements: of the Metropolitan. Water Management Act; and <br />WHEREAS, the member com.munities of VLAWMQ have enjoyed local control via:.appointment of a representative <br />to representtheir community on the VLAWMO Board; and <br />WHEREAS; the City of Gem Lake acknowledges.that.there are.areas of VL.A WMO's authority that needtto be unproved <br />and is willing to increase annual contributions to VLAWMO, itis..felt.that the most et7lcientmeans to deliver water <br />management services at this time is througlrawater management:organization; now, therefore, be it <br />ItESO LV C D,. that the City Council of the. Cityof Gem. Lake recominends.that thi-Joiitt Powers Agreement between the <br />:communities be :extended for.a:period of one (1) year, until 01 January20.07 and, be it <br />FURTHER RESOLVED, that work.on.updating the VLAWMO Water Management Plan begin imtitediately. <br />The foregoing.
