defined as the Neighborhood Center Subzone of the Gateway Zone lying East of the Centerline of <br />Highway 61. <br />The council then discussed how long should the interim ordinance should be in effect. Artig-Swomley <br />suggested four months. Lindner said he was comfortable with one year provided progress was being <br />made to complete the study. The council agreed that the interim ordinance be in effect for four months <br />from the date of adoption with the possibility of being extended up to one year from the date of <br />adoption. <br />Mayor Uzpen opened the public hearing at 8:10PM <br />Tom Bolfing asked about the area where the moratorium would be in effect. The council responded <br />that the study area was the Neighborhood Center Subzone of the Gateway Zone lying east of Highway <br />61. Bolfing then asked what retail the city wished to see come to this area. He next asked about <br />automobile sales to which the council said automobile sales are not retail and that it was confusion on <br />this item that led to the need for the city to be clearer in the wording of the Gateway Ordinance. Dennis <br />Olson, the owner of Mouldings, Doors and More also participated in the conversation. Discussion <br />followed on various types of potential uses and the actual size of the study area. <br />Mayor Uzpen closed the public hearing at 8:22PM <br />Lindner offered a motion to approve "An Ordinance for the Purpose of Enacting a Moratorium to <br />Preserve the Status Quo for a Specific Period of Time Within Certain Areas Under Study in the City of <br />Gem Lake" which was then seconded by Artig-Swomley. The motion passed 4-0 <br />Adjourn <br />There being no further business upon motion by Artig-Swomley and seconded by Bosak, Mayor Uzpe-n <br />adjourned the meeting at 8:26PM <br />J <br />
