Fritz, I spoke with Paul Emeott on Monday, 3rd, and he briefly outlined the expected alternatives and costs for Big Fox Road improvements. Also, the approximate costs for water and sewer lines. I don't have all the numbers straight in my notes, and am unclear as to the number of "shares of responsibility for payment" for each of the alternatives. I would like to have better specifics, not better than Paul gave me, but better than my somewhat dyslexic notes. I suppose these will be available at the April 10 meeting, and perhaps in writing (maybe via e-mail?), shortly thereafter. I will not be able to attend the meeting, due to health reasons, but would like to give my initial thoughts to you now. 1). I prefer the most temporary and least expensive option; just patch the road one more time. I think Paul called this the "two year option". I realize this is a questionable tactic due to the poor condition (or absence), of the roadbed under the broken pavement. But it may buy some time for Gem Lake city water and sewer plans to be finalized and maybe implementation schedules fixed. 2). I would prefer the "20 year complete rebuild", if it weren't for the water -sewer pipes consideration. 3). I might even consider favorably the "20 year rebuild, plus water and sewer pipes", if we would be ready to connect up to Gem Lake City water and sewer when complete (and if I understood fully the actual cost and financing for my property). However, I understand the Gem Lake City water and sewer are another project, still in (early?) planning stages. The road needs immediate attention, and will probably only deteriorate further if not patched. Therefore, lets take the cheap expedient for now.
