Program Planning Committee Report for 08 -09 -2011 HRC Meet ing 1 <br />Program Planning Committee <br />5B <br />August 9, 2011 <br /> <br /> <br />Program Planning Roseville Human Rights <br />Committee Report Commission <br /> Meeting <br />of Report prepared on <br />Ju ly 31 , 2011 August 9 , 2011 <br />The Prog ram Planning Committee of the Human Rights Commission (HRC) has <br />again met si nce our last Commission meeting, and has also communicated <br />frequently in the development of this report. The meeting focused on planning a <br />community forum as the Commission has do ne for the last three years, as well as <br />communicating on the various HRC programs to assure co mpatibility with HRC <br />strategic objectives and previously -approved guidelines. <br />The Committee has designated lead members on the three main programs <br />currently being planned as follows: Gary Grefenberg on the Civic Engagement <br />Project, Jill Brisbois on the Project 515 program, and Kaying Thao on planning for <br />future community dialogues. <br />Civic Engagement Project Update <br />A copy of the most recent Task Force meeting notes i s attached. Various Task <br />Force Work Groups, especially the Neighborhoods and the Assessment of Civic <br />Engagement Work Groups, have also met numerous times. <br />The Task Force will be holding a community meeting to hear from residents <br />regarding their experience s with city government and their suggestions as to how <br />to make city government more accessible, understandable, and respons ive to all <br />(Quote is from the HRC’s charge as found in City Ordinance 204.03, Purpose of <br />the Commission.) <br /> <br />A copy of the Press Rele ase for this event, prepared by Task Force volunteers, is <br />also attached. <br /> <br />By the time you receive this report, the Task Force will have participated in <br />several Night to Unite events on August 1 st and 2 nd and distributed information on <br />the Task Force and it s objectives. The Task Force has received the active <br />cooperation of the Police Department and its Community Relations Coordinator <br />Sara h Mahmud. <br /> <br />There also has been progress on the Commission’s May 10 th request that the city <br />provide ongoing coverage and i nformation on the task force in its various <br />publications and news outlets, and,,, provide a web page from the Human Rights
