WOMAN IN AUDIENCE: When they come to your house and say
well, we don't need your signature - even if you don't vote on
it - because we already have enough.

MR. PARTYKA: People went along with it because they
figured alright, it's going to go through anyway.

ACTING i1AYOR JOHNSON: Did you vote on the petition?

MRS. GENESE COLBERG, 2833 Farrington Street: No.

MR. WILLIAM SCHRENKER, 2810 Farrington Street: I was one
of the two people who circulated the petition. We did not tell
people that 33% was enough. In fact, we made an effort to get
as many people as we could because we believed you need more
than a majority to get the thing passed by the Council. If he
understood 33%, this might have been in the context that this
was the minimum amount that the Council would have to consider.
We did not tell them that that was only going to be the number
presented. We did not stop. We canvassed every house in the
block. We went back three or four times so that we 90uld get
everybody. There was no question of only a few people signing
and we didn't tell the rest of the people that they didn't have
to sign. We wanted more than 50% and we got it.

COUNCILMAN KEHR: It's quite obvious that you didn't stop
at 35%.

MR. SCHRENKER: We didn't tell people that they didn't
have to vote because it was already taken care of.

ACTING MAYOR JOHNSON: Any other comments?

MR. PARTYKA: That's a lie.

MR. SCHRENKER: It is not.

MR. PARTYKA: That's what you told me. You stood right
on my doorstep and told me that.

MR. SCHRENKER: No we didn't.

MR. PARTYKA: You said - we don't need your signature,
we already have enough.

MR. SCHRENKER:

We had over 60% at that point.

MR. PARTYKA:
anyway.

You said - your name doesn't mean anything

MR. SCHRENKER:
should sign or not.

You were questionable as to whether you
I said that we had 60% or more . .

-4-
