is well more than the typical residential street. The require-
ment the state has as well - unless you want to have a 44 foot
wide street - which we don't think you want - is that parking
would have to be prohibited on one side of the street. That
means that one side would still have parking on it and the
other side wouldn't. Our recommendation is that if parking is
going to be prohibited that it would be on the side where the
mailboxes are, so that the mailman could still get to the
mailboxes and deliver, where the fire hydrants are so that the
fire trucks can reach the hydrants, and where most of the
driveways are because this would provide for a little safer
entrance and exit out of these driveways on the north side.
So our recommendation is that that would be the side that
would not have parking.

The grades near Western could stand some improvement and
if the project is approved, we're going to look at the possi-
bility of providing a little safer stopping area just as you
come to that stop sign on Western. We might have to alter the
grades slightly and to do this we may have to slightly adjust
the road off the centerline to minimize any impact into those
homes near that intersection. We also anticipate - Recause of
the larger traffic on Rice Street and the fact that a fair
number of people want to turn left and go north and many
people want to turn right - rather than have one car backed
up (inaudible) we would have both a slot for the people that
want to turn left to be in and another slot for the people
that want to turn right. We feel that this is where any
delays may occur and it will be that much easier for people
to make the turns in either direction they want to. You very
well may be having some more questions and I'll be happy to
answer those, but one of the key things is that there are no
assessments on the single family lots along that roadway.

MR. POPOVICH: The total estimated cost of this improvement
is $267,569.10. If it was 100% assessed, it would be $91.04
per front foot and $31.86 based on the 35% approach for the
residential - or R-3 property. There would be nothing for the
other single family property. The other comme~s I made
earlier would apply here also.

ACTING MAYOR JOHNSON: So it's $31.86 .

MR. POPOVICH: For just that portion where the apartments

are.

ACTING MAYOR JOHNSON: Other than that, there's no
assessment. Are there any written statements?

MR. ANDRE: There are no letters.

ACTING MAYOR JOHNSON: We're talking about County Road
C-2. Anybody care to speak to this project?

WOMAN IN AUDIENCE: I really just want to ask a question -
I came opposed to the widening, but as it seems to be a

-3-
