path because the cars aren't allowed to be over there - it's
striped to keep them off.

WOMAN IN AUDIENCE: Are there going to be signs posted
that they can't park on that side?

MR. HONCHELL: Yes. And there will be stripes on the
other side to provide for a designated parking lane.
Motorists are not supposed to be driving up and down and along
the area where the cars are to be allowed to park.

WOMAN IN AUDIENCE: I have a comment to make - you
people had some say about the intersection of Rice and County
Road C-2 - when they did the highway. How could you stand
there and leave them not put a turn lane off of Rice Street
onto C-2, with the marketplace there?

MR. HONCHELL: Well, in the state's wisdom and based on
their traffic count (inaudible) they felt it wasn't qualified.
That's not to say that you're not correct, I'm just saying
that they had to put it in one direction . .

WOMAN IN AUDIENCE: The engineers that designed those
don't live there. They don't get rear-ended trying to make
that corner. You can't believe the people that stick their
finger at us and call us names when we're over on that side
of Rice Street, trying to make a left hand turn (inaudible).
That's a ridiculous intersection. Somebody is going to have
a head-on collision there some night and get killed and I
guess that's what it takes.

MR. HONCHELL: I can only say that they designed it as
best as they saw it.

MRS. MARION LUNZER, 2873 Galtier: You can't believe
it. It's a drag strip.

MR. LYMAN DALE, 263 West County Road C-2: I have a
whole list of things. I had a dog hit too, anc killed.
Sometimes I park my car in the street to force people to slow
down. It's like going down Farrington (inaudible) cars
parked out there - you have to go slower. I have a real
problem with improving that (inaudible). I know some of my
neighbors are going to kill me, but you have a lot of
boulevard on the south side and I would really like to see
a sidewalk - or some consideration for a sidewalk there like
they did on Western - they put the sidewalk on one side of
Western.. I have some small kids and there are more corning -
you've got children - and there just isn't a place to walk
on there. I don't know if the Council can take some consider-
ation tonight before this gets okayed - but there's lots of
room there. Isn't there an extra six feet or something?

MR. HONCHELL: The total right-of-way is six feet wide.

-6-
