~

MAYOR: We'll wait until we get to the hearing part to respond
to this. Okay, at this point then I will ask if there are any
additional statements. There are none. Now, at this time I will
open this hearing to the public and ask that each speaker come to
the microphone, give his or her name and address. Now, I might
ask Mr. Honchell to respond to that remark on the parking at this
point. This is because we are making it only 34 feet?

HONCHELL: That is correct. The proposal is to have a 34
foot pavement. If we wanted parking on 'both sides traditionally
that would mean a 44 foot wide pavement so there would be room
for another car to park on the other side safely. It was felt
that the traffic conditions up and down the road would be in the
1,300 vehicles per day category, at least what we have today. It
didn't warrant 44 feet of pavement directly in front of the
church. If we did that, that would really be widening it for
having parking. That's not to say,it shouldn't have.
,

MAYOR: Let me ask Mr. Mulhagen, is the lot filled on
Sundays, your parking lot? In other words, are people not going
into. the parking lot just because it is cioser perhaps or is the
parking lot filled?

MULHAGEN: Well, I think that part of the problem is maybe in
our own scheduling but we have three services every Sunday and at
least when I get to church many times I have to park on the
street because there is no space available in our parking lot.
And I have parked on the west side of the street and all of the
east side was also full. Now we do realize that does cause some
hardship to the people that live close by and I guess we would
like to apologize for that. We also agree that we don't like to
walk down the street farther than we have. to, especially when it
is wet and raining.

MAYOR: Are there any other questions or statements? Any
other questions or statements? Any other questions or
statements? If not, I will close this hearing and turn it back
to the counsel.

I'll move that we adopt the resolution for the improvement of
the project p83-20.

COUNCILMAN JOHNSON: I'll second that, but I want to ask a
question though.

MAYOR: Alright.

JOHNSON: Charlie, is the extension to 44 feet wide on the
whole project possible? To have it 34 feet wide as a normal and
then have that extra 10 feet just on the church side of the
street. Is there any reason why that can't be done?

HONCHELL: There is no reason why that can't be done. Right

-5-
