(watering, weeding, fertilizing) <br /> 6. Project Maintenance <br /> Weeding, fertilizing, watering and other required maintenance will be provided by Mr <br /> Partridge and his volunteers per his agreement with the Roseville Parks and Recreation <br /> Department. If he is physically unable to do the work, he will hire help as necessary to <br /> accomplish the task. <br /> • Maintenance in the past has utilized the help of local organizations such as the Boy <br /> Y. Scouts and girl Scouts. (A contribution to the troop wzll be made in lieu of cash <br /> � payment. <br /> The plants are mulched with woods chips after planting to n i'ru*r ize weed growth. Since <br /> �r this is a nature area, only weeds that imp act the growth of Bowers are removed. <br /> • The city provides and maintains two 55-gal drums of water for use during planting. <br /> Since they are wildflowers, many of them go dormant shortly after blooming and require <br /> little of watering. <br /> Mother Nature provides mulching for winter. The plants are covered with a blanket of <br /> leaves each fall, The flowers come up through the leaves in spring. <br /> Tasks <br /> • Remove leaves from wood chip trail. <br /> • Pick up brush and trash that have accumulated over winter. <br /> • Inventory plants and remove colored planting flags as they bloom. <br /> • Make weeny list of flowers blooming in the garden for the Mature Center. <br /> Summer: <br /> • Fertilize plants in early summer. <br /> • Water plants weekly if no rain or they appear wilted. <br /> • Remove invasive plants as needed. <br /> • Build up fall planting area with leaf mulch. <br /> • Treat phlox, goldenrods and asters with pepper spray to discourage <br /> deer and rabbits. <br />
