City Council Minutes-07/22/02 <br /> Page 2 <br /> o August 5 Community Development; <br /> o August 12 Public Works; <br /> o August 19, as required by State Law, City <br /> adoption of a "not to exceed" City Property Tax <br /> Levy. <br /> o Year-end — Formal Truth in Taxation Hearing <br /> and adoption of a balanced budget and local <br /> property tax levy. <br /> Councilmember Schroeder stated that attendance by City <br /> Councilmembers at the Budget Work Sessions was on a <br /> volunteer basis, but would be televised if conflicts arise. <br /> Acting Mayor Kough turned the discussion over to the <br /> City's Finance Director, Mr. Chris Miller <br /> Mr. Miller distributed the draft Working Budget <br /> Documents and provided an overview of the document <br /> and its format. <br /> Mr. Miller and Mr. Beets answered questions, and <br /> received comments from the City Council on the <br /> proposed budget. <br /> Councilmember Maschka asked for data about police <br /> staffing; and about contingency planning — financially <br /> and in terms of equipment and training for public safety <br /> personnel — relating to natural and man-made disasters. <br /> Acting Mayor Kough asked about response times and <br /> response vehicles. <br /> Councilmember Schroeder asked about a strategic plan <br /> for the Fire Department. <br /> III. Public Comment Public Comment <br /> Acting Mayor Kough opened the meeting to public comment at <br /> this time. <br /> A.
