2.3 Section 10122.1 O( )(1 ) of the City Code outlines exceptions to the provisions of this
section. Antennas attached to} but not above, the exterior walls of buildings as an
integral part of the architecture are a permitted use in all Business and Industrial
zoning districts. The intent of this provision is to provide an avenue for
administrative review of requests that do not have a dramatic visual impact.
Allowing the placement of antennas on existing public utility structures and public
utility towers will have the same minimal visual impact; therefore, staff recommends
that this placement of antennas on such towers and structures be allowed as a
permitted use in all zoning districts. The administrative review process will ensure
that antennas attached to existing public utility structures and towers will he visually
appropriate in design.
2.4 If this ro osed amendment is approved, U West will request permit to place
p p
telecommunications antennas on NSP electrical transmission tourers near the
intersection of County Road C and Cleveland Avenue/1- 5 and near the intersection
of County Road c and Victoria Street.
Section 1015 outlines the procedure for amending the zoning code of the City.
3LO TA LF CO T
3.1 In reviewing this request, staff has made the following findings:
Section 101 .1 of the City Code does not provide for the placement of
1.
telecommunication antennas on existing public utility structures or towers as
either a p ermitted or conditional use in any zoning district.
wireless telecommunication company providing service to this area has
entered into an agreement with NSP to place telecommunication antennas
on NSP electrical transmission tourers within the community.
3. The p lacement of telecommunication antennas on existing public utility
structures and towers will reduce the need for additional towers within the
community, while addressing the needs of the telecommunications industry.
tY
4, The placement of telecommunication antennas on existing public utility
structures and tourers will have a minimal visual impact; therefore} such
placement is an appropriate permitted use its all zoning districts with
administrative review.
5. The proposed City Code amendment is in harmony with the general purpose
and intent of the City's comprehensive Plan and Title 10 of the city Code
(Zoning).
Rc (P F#2974) -02/09198- Page 2 of 3
