A committee was established with representative from.- Parks and Recreation Commission • Neighborhood • Roseville Area Hockey Association • Roseville Figure skating Clubs Roseville Area Schools • Midway Speedskating Club • Minnesota Bander Association The committee made recommendations to the staff and consultants on the needs of the community and the various user groups. The Skating Center ratin staff and Parks and recreation programming staff reviewed Re � plans throughout the process. Goals The following were the goals of the planning process: 1. Fulfill the requirements established in the legislative grant proposal. 11. Lessen as much as possible any impact on the neighborhood. Ill. Improve the amenities and services of the Roseville Skating Center. IV. Create spaces for non-skating recreational opportunities including activities that are enticing to families, senior citizens, and teens. 1!. Develo p spaces aces that will increase the financial viability of the Skating Center. VI. Plan for the P ossibility of involving private enterprise at the skating Center. V11. Allow for potential future expansion. Architectural Plan In response to the above stated goals, the design team has proposed an p architectural design that includes the following spaces: ❑ 7 locker rooms ❑ 2 meeting rooms timing/announcing area ❑ indoor walking/running track ❑ offices ❑family restrooms ❑ new ticketing areas 0 additional restrooms ear north side entrance El fitness room ❑ ro shop ❑ never spate rental area p p ❑ game room W. refurbished and enlarged concession areas ❑ 300 seat community unity room U expanded lounges for open skating Time none The contract with the state of Minnesota requires that the project be completed by December 31, 1 998.
