A committee was established with representative from.- <br /> Parks and Recreation Commission <br /> • Neighborhood <br /> • Roseville Area Hockey Association <br /> • Roseville Figure skating Clubs <br /> Roseville Area Schools <br /> • Midway Speedskating Club <br /> • Minnesota Bander Association <br /> The committee made recommendations to the staff and consultants on <br /> the needs of the community and the various user groups. The Skating <br /> Center ratin staff and Parks and recreation programming staff reviewed <br /> Re � <br /> plans throughout the process. <br /> Goals <br /> The following were the goals of the planning process: <br /> 1. Fulfill the requirements established in the legislative grant proposal. <br /> 11. Lessen as much as possible any impact on the neighborhood. <br /> Ill. Improve the amenities and services of the Roseville Skating Center. <br /> IV. Create spaces for non-skating recreational opportunities including activities <br /> that are enticing to families, senior citizens, and teens. <br /> 1!. Develo p spaces aces that will increase the financial viability of the Skating Center. <br /> VI. Plan for the P ossibility of involving private enterprise at the skating Center. <br /> V11. Allow for potential future expansion. <br /> Architectural Plan <br /> In response to the above stated goals, the design team has proposed an <br /> p <br /> architectural design that includes the following spaces: <br /> ❑ 7 locker rooms ❑ 2 meeting rooms <br /> timing/announcing area ❑ indoor walking/running track <br /> ❑ offices ❑family restrooms <br /> ❑ new ticketing areas 0 additional restrooms <br /> ear north side entrance El fitness room <br /> ❑ ro shop ❑ never spate rental area <br /> p p <br /> ❑ game room W. refurbished and enlarged concession areas <br /> ❑ 300 seat community unity room U expanded lounges for open skating <br /> Time none <br /> The contract with the state of Minnesota requires that the project be completed by <br /> December 31, 1 998. In order to comply with that requirement, the following <br /> schedule has been developed: <br /> *Concept review by Parks and Recreation Commission at 1/06/98 meeting <br /> (completed) <br /> 2 <br />
