Agenda Section: <br />Consent Agenda <br />Item Description: Radio Maintenance Agreement. <br />Background <br />For several years, Roseville has paid a per radio annual maintenance <br />charge. for mobile radio repairs. Most City vehicles now have newer, <br />solid state, two -way radio equipment that has proven to he very <br />dependable, very few repairs are required compared to the radios that <br />were purchased twenty years ago. <br />Staff proposes repairs he done on a time materials bas, is in the future. <br />This should lower our overall annual costs in this area. <br />Policy Ch'ectives <br />The objective is to secure quality radio maintenance /repair that falls <br />within budget guidelines. <br />Financial-Imp lications <br />Radio maintenance is budgeted for by each department with radio <br />equipment. <br />Alternatives <br />Quotations were received from Capitol 2 -Way Communication, Comm Center, <br />and the City of St. Paul Services and Maintenance unit* Rates ranged <br />from $40 to 50 per hour for Coma Center and Capitol Communications and <br />$45 per hour for the City of St. Paul Communication services. <br />The City of St. Paul provides a full range of radio services, very <br />similar to the private f i rras . They have the added hene f it of extended <br />shop hours--until 11: 0 0 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8:00 a. m. to <br />4:00 p . m . on Saturday and Sunday, These extended hours would benef it <br />the Police Department. There is no additional charge for these <br />extended hours. The private firms have an emergency service charge for <br />after hours work. <br />The City of St. Paul presently provides radio maintenance for Ramsey <br />County and the Cities of Maplewood, Woodbury, Oakdale, Bloomington, <br />Cottage Grove, and Eagan. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED: <br />Motion authorizing Mayor and City Manager to sign an agreement with -the <br />City of St. Paul for the purpose of providing the City of Roseville <br />with radio maintenance and repair on a► time and material basis.. <br />
