I Member Traynor asked if a semi truck could be stored on the site (no). There is no crew working
2 with the applicant or parking on the site.
3
4 Mr. Norris asked for clarification of front setback ( 7 feet).
5
6 Member 1psen asked if the applicant objected to the staff report? Mr. Dorris said he needs 20'
7 wide drive and a 26' depth and a 60' width. The neighbors were contacted by the applicant and
8 had no opposition.
9
Member Peper noted that variances are increasing in size dramatically. The enormity of this
addition will change the look of the home.
1
13 Member Traynor said he appreciates the needs and the uniqueness of the home business. The
impacts are primarily on the frontage road; neighbors appear to be okay with the proposal. This
15 is a big garage.
1
17 BB said this creates a unique property configuration with next owner. Who will become a,
18 problem property in future (small house, big garage)
1
20 Member Ipsen reminded the Planning Commission that the Commission has been supportive of
1 unique situations in the past.
2
23 Chair Mulder accepts hardship related to the side setback created b the City. Where is difficulty
4 finding hardship on rear setback, the garage would be reduced in size to 48 feet or less in width.
5 The camper does not need to be stored on the site. The property is unique because of the
6 exposure to Snelling Avenue.
7
28 Member Bakeman explained that the height must be 15 feet for a detached structure -- item "C" in
29 staff report should be stricken from report. She also is concerned with the home occupation that
30 stores scaffolding and pump jacks as a business storage area in both the house and garage.
31
32 Chair Mulder asked for clarification on the motions.
33
34 Torras Paschke recommended approval of (A) type in and denied of (13), creating approximately
35 a 1 ,3 00 s. f: garage! a 26x48 building addition. This is unique.
3
37 Thomas Paschke indicated the staff recommended approval based on the findings in the project
38 report dated December 3, 2003, and contingent upon applicant's compliance with the following
39 conditions:
40
41 a. The attached garage being limited to a depth of 24 feet, a length of 56 feet, and
42 an overall size of 1,433 sq. ft.
43
44 b. A minimum rear yard (applied to the north property line) setback of 21 feet and a
45 minimum setback adjacent a street (applied to the west property line) of 12 feet.
4
47 C. A maximum building height of 15 feet to the mid -point of the roof truss* with the
48 design being a hip style.
49
