Regular City Council Minutes — 11/24/03 <br />DRAVI7 Minutes - Page 41 <br />and Recreation Director Lonnie Brokke, as the personnel <br />vacancy was projected in that department, and would <br />require reorganization of the department and reassignment <br />of responsibilities. <br />Councilmember Schroeder spoke against the motion. <br />Councilmember Kough spoke against the motion. <br />Councilmember Klausing spoke against the motion. <br />Councilmember Maschka, spoke in support of the motion, <br />with a limit of one year, followed by review to determine <br />if it would be permanent reduction. <br />Mayor - options for position <br />Lonnie - forestry program starts in February/March and <br />goes through end of year - position open since May -hired <br />p -t people to fill void and do work; my opinion is that it is <br />a f -t job for a person the way we're doing now; if cut back, <br />then some cuts in park maintenance system - reevaluation <br />what we're doing and what we can and cannot do <br />1, IOR r <br />Ayes: None. <br />Nays: Maschka, Schroeder, Kough, Klausing and <br />Kysylyczyn. <br />Motion failed. <br />Suggested <br />Reduction <br />Suggested Amount <br />Reduce qty_ <br />debt le <br />$30011000 <br />Kysylyczyn moved, without a second, a reduction of <br />$300,000 in the City's debt levy. <br />Finance Director Miller cautioned against use of reserve <br />funds, as related to the City's bond rating agencies, and <br />recommended maintaining an adequate and separate fund <br />for bond payments as previously recommended by staff. <br />
