Regular City Council Minutes — 9/15/03 <br />DRAFF Minutes - Page 18 <br />residents and Councilmembers. <br />Gary Boyum, Waste Management <br />Mr. Boyum attempted to negotiate with Councilmember <br />Kough at the bench on a preferred contract germ and price. <br />Councilmember Kough opined a desire to see the City <br />participate in the profits realized by revising the current <br />contact from atwo -sort to a single -sort collection, and <br />eliminating the pilot program, currently part of the existing <br />contract. <br />Mx. Boyum expressed an apparent lack of concern of <br />residents when only ten (10) people attended the recent <br />facility tour, even though four hundred invitations, in <br />addition to advertising, had been provided. <br />When highlighted by Mayor Kysylyczyn as to the <br />accuracy of the recovery of materials addressed in the <br />anonymous flyer; Mr. Boyum advised that over ninety <br />percent (90 %) of materials were experienced by their <br />facility in asingle- stream process. <br />Amy IhIan, X776 Stanbridge Avenue <br />Ms. IhIan spoke of her attendance at the tour and review of <br />single -sort processing in St. Louis Park, opining that the <br />system that worked best was related to the preferences in <br />context of the specific city's residents. Ms. IhIan observed <br />that the dour had been very informative, and the facility <br />operated on revenues from the sales of materials, with <br />costs of hauling and collection reflected in the monthly <br />cost to residents. <br />Susan Hubbard, Eureka Recycling, a Non - profit <br />Providing Recycling Services in the City of St. Paul <br />Councilmembers Kough and Klausing encouraged Mayor <br />Kysylyczyn to allow Ms. Hubbard an opportunity to <br />comment, even if she was a potential competitor of Waste <br />Management. <br />Ms. Hubbard expressed her appreciation of the Council's <br />
