Regular City Council Minutes -r 07/21/03 <br />DRAFT Minutes - Page 17 <br />3) Need ridership demonstrated (i.e., intersection of <br />major routes, number of hoardings, etc.); <br />4} Permits are needed from roadway jurisdictions to <br />ensure they meet sight requirements, setbacks, etc. <br />5} Shelters should not impede pedestrian traffic; <br />b} Compliance with American Disability Act (ADA) <br />requirements; and <br />7) Fifty percent (50 %) of advertising should be <br />generated by local firms (north suburban area ). <br />Kysylyczyn sought clarification; and City Attorney <br />Anderson responded affirmatively that the motion should <br />be amended, at Council discretion, to incorporate the <br />above - reference seven (7) points within the language of <br />the ordinance, along with language revisions for shelters. <br />Discussion ensued regarding the specific criteria <br />recommended by the Public Works and Transportation <br />Commission, with Councilmembers achieving consensus <br />to incorporate proposed criteria, Items 1 through 6, <br />excluding Item 7. <br />Councilmember Maschka was willing to support co- <br />location of benches and shelters at the same Location. <br />Councilmember Klausing was not ready to commit to <br />supporting co- location of benches and shelters 3n all <br />instances. <br />Councilmember Schroeder was willing to support co- <br />location of benches and shelters at the same location, <br />provided the ownership was exclusive for both, <br />rationalizing that the provision would simplify and ensure <br />maintenance. <br />Councilmember Kough was willing to support co- location <br />of benches and shelters at the same location, provided <br />neither was exclusive. <br />Councilmember Klausing concurred with Councilmember <br />Schroeder. <br />
