Date: 05112/03 <br />Item: V, A. <br />mo tions - Prodmation <br />Law Enforcement w <br />am <br />Whereas: the Congress of the United States has designated the week in which May <br />15 occurs as "National Law Enforcement week" and May 15 of each year to be "Peace <br />Officers Memorial Day;" and <br />Whereas: law enforcement officers are our guardians of life and property, defenders <br />of individual's right to be free, warriors in the war against crime; and <br />Whereas: law enforcement officers are dedicated to the preservation of life, liberty <br />and the pursuit of happiness; and <br />"whereas: every 57 hours an American law enforcement officer is killed in the lint of <br />duty somewhere in the United State and 136 officers will be seriously assaulted in the <br />perforna.ance of their duties; and <br />Whereas: the City of Roseville joins with other Cities and Towns across the nation <br />to honor all law enforcement officers everywhere. <br />Now, Therefore Be It Resolved, that the Roseville City Council hereby declare the weep <br />of May 11 to May 17, 2003 to he National Law Enforcement Week in the City of <br />Roseville and May 15 as peace Officers Memorial Day. <br />Be It Farther Resolved that the Roseville City Council calls upon all citizens in this <br />community to honor and show their sincere appreciation for the law enforcement officers <br />in this City, by deed, remarks and attitude and to make every effort to express their <br />thanks to the men and women who make it possible for us to leave our homes knowing <br />we are protected by men and women willing to sacrifice their lives, if necessary, to guard <br />our loved ones, property and government against all who violate the law. <br />In the City of Roseville, County of Ramsey, State of Minnesota, U. .
