The Family Involvement Series presents artists perfornling in a family-friendly setting. Concerts and <br />revues are designed to engage audiences of toddlers to elders. Success for these performances is <br />measured by the number of people dancing to the beat, the volume of the voices sin ' along and the <br />size of the smile on the faces in the audience. <br />The Splatter Sisters paint a adventurous through songs and movement. Their Evel <br />concerts of classic kid's songs invoke lots of audience participation. <br />Bob and the Beachcombers bring a rock & roll beach p arty and summertime f- n to the <br />shores of ` Lake Bennett in Roseville. <br />Alpha Bits plays music for kids. This high energy duo sounds like a. full band. The family <br />favorite show inspires kids to sing and dance, laugh and shout. <br />Hans Mayer p erforn hurnorous,, child - oriented music with an irresistible s ens e c f ' l . a <br />p y <br />People of ` all ages are immediately attracted to his fun- loving personality and his magical <br />songs that stimulate imaginations while building self - esteem. <br />Kit and I aboodle is a crowd pleasing duo delivering sigh - energy music and comedy show <br />for family audiences of all ages. This talented twosome transforms family friendl y songs in <br />g <br />hilarious comedy routines loaded with audience participation. <br />The Community Connections Series gives homegrown talent the opportunity to perform in the spotlight <br />of their community's premier performance facility, before family, friends and appreciative audiences. <br />• North Suburban Senior Chorus and Roseville Area High School Concert Choir i oin together <br />for an intergenerational concert featuring concert classics. <br />• Roseville Community Band and Roseville Big Band, these bands have a long history of <br />community involvement proudly representing their Home community throughout the state <br />with high quality concert sounds and tern arrangements. <br />o - <br />• u arran <br />up -tempo g <br />B anj o Bandits are local artists whose strumming and picking are a crowd favorite. <br />• Battle of the Bands featuring local youth bands in are all out musical contest for the title of <br />`best of show "'. <br />Performances M' the Park program manager and operations coordinator is Roxann Palm. Roxann has <br />extensive experience working in municipal recreation and coni aunty education. In preps-ration for <br />this project, ROXann surveyed local community interests and sought advice and direction from <br />colleagues in an effort to bring the most skilled, unique and engaging artists to Roseville for <br />involvement in the 2003 Performances in the Park. <br />Ability <br />The foundation of Roseville parrs and recreation and the Parks and Recreation Commission is built <br />on the strength of community involvement. The Performances in the Park series is no exception to <br />this legacy. As a department, and as an advisory commission, we feel strongly that community based <br />arts experiences are among the essential tools for community development, corm aunty involvement <br />and co=unity pride. <br />Each year, the performances in the Park program manager works in with the Pans and recreation <br />Commission to review feedback from the previous year's performers and the audience for their <br />reaction to the artistic presentations. The planning team evaluates and considers proposals submitted <br />by new artists and commum*ty members. Suggestions and comments are weighted during this phase of <br />program development and a pool of potential performers is created. The program manager contacts <br />referrals for new p erfortners to gauge their appropriateness and appeal to our community and# id'usts <br />the pool of artists accordingly. Five months prior to the perfonnance season, artists are contacted to <br />confirm availability and discuss fee structures. <br />Strict attention is paid to the annual budget for the Performances in the Paris series. The Parks and <br />Recreation department is fiscally responsible to stay within the budget when developing the 11 Z <br />
