,-)A 3. Additional landscape screening around the parking lot adjacent to County Road D so as
37 to screen it from view.
38
39 The neighborhood is still concerned that the project will increase traffic on the local streets and
40 cause safety issues. They have organized to discuss how they can reduce cut through traffic and
4 1 improve livability in the neighborhood.
42
43 Attached is the Detition from the Shorewood Neiahborhood- (Attachment A) to will be
44 seeking Council direction on the additional study as requested.
45 POLICY OBJECTIVE
46 The Comprehensive Plan supports safe, livable neighborhoods and an efficient transportation
47 system.
48 BUDGET IMPLICATIONS
49 Discussion of this request has no immediate budget implications. Development of a
neighborhood traffic management policy should include how infrastructure improvements to
'i mitigate traffic concerns should be funded.
52 STAFF RECOMMENDATION
53 Staff recommends that the City Council accept the attached petition and direct staff to evaluate
" 4 closure or partial closure alternatives and their impacts to this neighborhood after development
55 of a neighborhood traffic management policy later this year. The PWETC will be significantly
56 involved in this policy development and recommendation. We would estimate it will take
" 7 approximately 6 months to research, develop and review this type of policy with the City
58 Council. This policy would pertain to other neighborhood traffic concerns recently received and
,' 9 discussed with the Council from Josephine Road residents and the Dale St. reconstruction project
6('-) that included discussion of traffic calming measures such as speed tables.
6,i REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION
62 Accept petition from the Shorewood Neighborhood and direct staff for further action.
63
64 Prepared by: Duane Schwartz., Public Works Director
Attachments: A: Petition
