Team Composition — Principals, Community Education Staff, Retired Staff, Community Members,, Parents Planning Timeline — Continuous Pilot Project— The Urban Planning Program at RAHS Projected Implementation— Cautious Implementation Action to Date: The Urban Planning portion of the Honor Economics class at RAHS is the jump-off for this Milepost. This student opportunity was a cooperative effort of the RAHS staff (Steve Bekemeyer , community expert (John Shardlow) and the business community (The Urban Land Institute). This type of learning opportunity needs to be expanded to all levels of our organization, and it is my plan to contact high-energy parents to assist us in investigating additional options for our students. This Milepost may be delayed because of the current state of the State and National economy. Another drawback for this Milepost is the need for in-dept background checks on all individuals who work with our students,, especially in after hours programs. Milepost #13: Expand the Targeted Services programming for identified students Responsible District Administrator —Karen Schaub, Chris Sonenblum and Joe Wemette Team Composition — Principals, Community Ed Staff, Student Services Staff Planning Timeline — Continuous Pilot Project— Summer School Projected Implementation —Ongoing Action to Date: The pilot project to identify students for the targeted services program during summer school is very successful. Peg Kennedy and her staff used language interpreters to reach families who were not aware of the program and the benefits for their children. Adjustments in transporting students and special events offered to entice families to take advantage of the programming are just a few of the ideas used during the past year. Ms. Kennedy and her staff will continue to improve communication and provide support to the families most in need of the targeted services program. While the goal to reach every student that qualifies for targeted services has not been accomplished, the percentage of students taking part in the TOPS program continues to grow each year.
