2009 — 2018 Capital Improvement Plan <br />Public Works <br />Sanitary Sewer Utility <br />Inflow/Infiltration reduction <br />The City sanitary sewer system presently has <br />over 100 miles of clay the sewer main that is <br />nearing 50 years since installation. <br />Additionally many areas of the city was <br />developed before clear water regulation in <br />sanitary sewers was adopted. Infiltration into <br />the system because of the material and age of <br />the system has placed the City on the <br />Metropolitan Councils sewer surcharge <br />program due to peak allowable flow <br />exceedance. We have a window of <br />opportunity to reduce 1/1 to allowable levels <br />until 2011. Our surcharge can be utilized for <br />capital improvements to the system to meet <br />peak flow reduction goals. <br />Supports systematic programs for <br />infrastructure replacement <br />Annual budget and sewer rate <br />recommendation to reflect cost of meeting 1/1 <br />goals as require ..- y program. <br />$,150,000 annual expenditure through 2011 <br />and included in main replacement program <br />beyond 2011 <br />Extended to 2011 and adjusted to $,150,000 <br />annual expenditure. <br />E1 <br />
